The Challenge: When "User Friendly" Meets High Pressure
At Zhejiang Zhongfeiya Technology, we are committed to the highest standards of quality. Recently, during a routine IP66 simulation test for a client's
SMC enclosure, we encountered a unexpected challenge: a small amount of water ingress in our smaller cabinet model.

The Investigation: Narrowing Down the Cause
Quality control isn't just about passing tests; it's about understanding "Why" when things don't go as planned. Together with our client, we performed a step-by-step investigation:
The Handle & Lock: Initial thoughts pointed to the lock assembly. However, after re-tightening and inspecting the internal area, we found the lock remained completely dry.
The Real "Leak": Through close-up photography and internal testing, we identified the source-the main door sealing gasket.
The Finding: The Trade-off Between "Ease of Use" and "Protection"
Our technical team discovered a fascinating root cause. Based on past market feedback that some IP66 cabinets were "too hard to close," our workshop had slightly adjusted the foaming density of the seal for our smaller cabinets.
This made the door much easier and "softer" to operate. However, while this was fine for standard rain (IP65), it created a slight vulnerability under the high-pressure water jets required for a strict IP66 rating.
Our Solution: Strict IP66 Standards
We believe that protection should never be compromised. Following this discovery, we have implemented the following improvements:
Reverting to Full-Density Foaming: All cabinets requiring IP66 will now use our high-compression foam process, ensuring a 100% tight seal even if the door requires a bit more force to close.
Special Order Tagging: In our production system, clients can now specify "Strict IP66 Standard" to ensure maximum sealing performance for harsh environments.
Collaborative QC: We value the professional feedback of our partners. Their rigorous testing helps us refine our processes and deliver better products to the global market.
Conclusion
Quality is a journey, not a destination. By identifying the fine line between user convenience and maximum protection, we've strengthened our production protocols. Whether it's IP65 for easy access or IP66 for extreme protection, we deliver exactly what your project demands.
