The Difference Between Network Power Meters And Energy Meters

Although both network power meters and electric energy meters have the function of "electric energy measurement", it is improper to identify them as the same product or include them in the category of electromagnetic meters. The reasons are as follows: First, there are many products with "electric energy metering" functions, which are newly added every year; second, power meters (Figure 1) and electric energy meters (Figure 2) do face different application objects.

The main distinctions are as follows:

1), use

Power meters are mainly used for power grids, especially for low-voltage electrical parameter measurement, power metering, fault diagnosis, electrical control, alarms, protection and other functions at the user’s end; power meters are used for power settlement between various links in the power grid and between users and users, with additional There is electrical parameter measurement, no diagnosis, control and protection functions.

2), standard

3), symbol

4), model naming

Electric power meter companies can name themselves, or refer to the Electrician Standards Committee to name them as follows:

PAxxx—Digital Display Ammeter

PDxxx—digital display multi-function meter, etc.

5), product structure

The power monitoring instrument terminal is plug-in type, no "lead seal" structure, no anti-theft measures; the electric energy meter has an anti-theft mechanism-"lead seal". 7), system compatibility

Power meters are dedicated to smart power distribution systems, and the communication protocol is compatible with power distribution, and is internationally used. Electric energy meters are mainly sold to power grid companies, and power grid companies have their own communication system, mainly DL/T645 protocol.

8), installation method

The power meter is embedded installation, and various sizes of meters can be easily installed in all links of the power distribution system to "monitor" the internal power operation status of the unit; the power meter is installed at the unit's incoming line and is responsible for the settlement of power trade. For wall-mounted installation, it can be installed in a large-space switch cabinet, or an electric meter box can be installed separately.

9), installation environment

The electric meter is installed indoors; the electric energy meter can be installed indoors or outdoors.
